Biosketch
 

Christopher J Colvin is an Associate Professor in UCT’s School of Public Health and Family Medicine where he heads the School’s Division of Social and Behavioural Sciences and is co-Director of the South African Social Science and HIV (SASH) Programme. He is a medical anthropologist with a PhD in socio-cultural anthropology from the University of Virginia and a Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Cape Town. He also holds honorary faculty appointments at Brown University and the University of Virginia. His research interests include men, masculinity and HIV; trauma, memory and subjectivity; community health activism, health citizenship and governance; qualitative evidence synthesis and its role in emerging forms of global health policymaking and practice; the role of harmonised health information systems in integrating community-based and health system-based services; and new pedagogies to improve training in community-based health research methods.
